Welcome to the new CYPA blog. My name is Conor--I'm an academic teacher at CYPA and a summer intern in the New York office, and this summer I'll be running this page with the hopes of opening it up to the community.
Some of you may be wondering--what is this blog for? Good question! The real motivation behind starting this is to make CYPA feel like more of a community, and to allow for a bevy of different academic and cultural interests to flow into the community. It's a way for you to tell everybody about that movie you love, or share your predilection for the sport of fencing, or to communicate your enthusiasm about that new NASA discovery--whatever you're interested in! It's a way for the members of this community to begin to get to know one another. It's a way to keep up with the different happenings of the world and of the other folks in the CYPA program.
I'll be posting in this blog quite frequently--I'll talk about current events, writing, books, movies, music, some academia, and whatever else feels relevant or important. And that'll be fun for me, and hopefully fun for you, but to make this really work, I'm hoping that some of you are also willing to contribute. Tell us about your most recent trip and the new cultural phenomena you learned about. Write a review for your favorite book, movie, album, or TV series. Write a little piece on binary star systems. Tell us about why learning to code in Python is vital and important. Share your opinion on the latest global developments. We want all of you to contribute to this page, and share what your passions, interests, and hobbies are! This page will only work if the community is excited about it, so we're hoping that you'll all contribute and share some of the awesome stuff you all do!
So, now that I'm sure you're all super excited about posting in the blog (or not, but pretending you are if you're not), you'll certainly be curious about how to post, right? And that part is incredibly easy! Just shoot me an email with your post and any photos and links you want to share on the post at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'll look it over (don't worry, I won't edit or remove content--I'm just going to make sure it's beneficial to the community, and most things will be, so long as they're not offensive!) and post it right here on this page!
I'm looking forward to hearing all about your interests and the great things you're getting up to!
All the best and happy blogging,
